Mastermind Cognitive Training – Program
Mastermind Cognitive Training is a neuroscience-based cognitive training program designed to improve the brain's core processing abilities through interactive, game-based exercises. It combines cognitive assessments, eye movement training, and digital brain games to strengthen the mental skills required for learning, sports, work, and everyday life. The program is available on Virtual Reality (Meta Quest), tablets, and mobile phones, making it flexible and accessible for users of all ages.
Skills the program develops
Mastermind focuses on strengthening several foundational cognitive skills, including:
- Focus and sustained attention
- Working memory
- Executive functioning
- Response inhibition (self-control)
- Decision making
- Visual processing
- Auditory processing
- Object tracking
- Reaction time
- Hand-eye coordination
- Rhythm and timing
- Eye control and strengthening
These skills are essential for academic performance, sports, and daily functioning.
What does the program include?
1. Cognitive Assessment
Before training begins, users complete a comprehensive assessment that measures their current cognitive abilities. Progress is reassessed every 24 training sessions to track improvement.
The assessment measures:
- Focus and attention
- Working memory
- Visual processing
- Object tracking
- Response inhibition (impulse control)
- Reaction time
A detailed performance report highlights strengths, weaknesses, and overall cognitive performance.
2. Cognitive Training Games and Eye Strengthening Exercises
The core of the program consists of 39 gamified cognitive training exercises.
Features include:
- Video game-style activities
- Automatic difficulty adjustment
- Self-guided learning
- Scoring system and leaderboards
- Repetitive practice to strengthen neural pathways
Each session typically includes two cognitive games targeting different mental skills.
Each training session begins with eye exercises developed alongside neuroscience and vision experts.
Exercises include:
- Convergence & divergence
- Near–far focusing
- Saccades (rapid eye movements)
- Fixation training
- Optokinetic exercises
These activities improve:
- Eye Tracking
- Visual Attention
- Hand-Eye Coordination
- Processing Speed
- Visual Efficiency
3. Progress Reports
The platform generates reports showing:
- Overall Cognitive Score
- Individual Skill Scores
- Performance Trends
- Areas Needing Improvement
- Progress Over Time
These reports help educators, therapists, coaches, and parents monitor development objectively.

Scientific Foundation
The program is based on the concept of neuroplasticity. The brain's ability to strengthen and reorganize neural pathways through repeated practice. It also incorporates eye movement training and cites research supporting cognitive training, virtual reality interventions, and technology-assisted learning. The presentation references published studies, although it primarily summarizes supporting research rather than presenting clinical trial results specific to the Mastermind program itself.
Assessment Overview
It is critical for each user to create a performance baseline to measure improvement throughout the training program. This is accomplished through completing an initial assessment before starting the training and taking periodic assessments as you continue through the program.
The assessment incorporates both training games that you will see in future sessions and tasks that are specific to the assessment. The assessment will take about 30 minutes to complete and can be completed all at one time or it can be completed at your own pace (your progress will be saved after the completion of each assessment task). Remember though that all assessment components need to be completed prior to starting your first training session.
You will take your initial assessment right after enrolling, and then you will reassess after the completion of each set of 24 sessions.
Following are the assessment components:
- Reaction - Assessment of Basic Reaction Time
- Focus - Assessment of Sustained Focus and Attention
- Visual - Assessment of Reaction Time While Managing Distractor Cues
- Tracking - Assessment of Processing Multiple Objects Simultaneously
- Inhibition - Assessment of Reaction Time and Inhibition
- Memory - Assessment of Working Memory
Training Program Overview
The Mastermind Cognitive Training program consists of training sessions delivered within an Android or Apple tablet.
A "session" is a training period for a day combining eye exercises and training games; all games assigned to the training session need to be completed to advance to the next day’s training session. Each session will be pre-loaded with that day’s assigned training; you will not need to worry about choosing the correct games to play to complete the session, as our program will advance you seamlessly between games within each session. All training sessions start with eye exercises and are followed by the assigned training games for the day.
EYE EXERCISES
You’ll start with three (3) eye exercises each day you train. Each exercise has individual instructions provided to you when you access each activity.
TRAINING GAMES
- The training games consist of 15 games within the tablet platform.
- 6 training games on the tablets center around multiple-object tracking and utilize paddles as the primary hand control for tapping. At the end of each training game, you will play against the Boss, the game nemesis, in a fun bonus round.
- 4 training games on the tablets utilize shooters as the primary hand control for tapping. These games focus on anticipation and working memory, with the Boss appearing intermittently as a distractor.
- 4 training games on the tablets utilize tapping targets. These games focus on working memory, cueing, and attention.
- RhythmIQ is a rhythm- and timing-based training game that uses tapping and focuses on strengthening visual tracking abilities.
For all of the exercises and training games, if you need to pause (or are forced to disconnect due to a power outage or losing internet, for example), you will have 24 hours to resume play. After 24 hours, your session will need to be restarted from the beginning.
RECOMMENDED TRAINING SCHEDULE
Mastermind Cognitive Training strongly recommends training a minimum of three (3) days per week. The more repetition you have in training, the better chance you have of improving your results. We understand that life may get in the way occasionally; don’t let that discourage you. Jump back in as soon as you can! Mastermind’s training program is built with the ability to use daily. Once you have completed your assigned training session for a day, the system will open up to allow you to play additional games of your choosing (Open Play), up to five (5) games per day. Your training sessions will update overnight and be ready to advance you the next day.
